Complexity of Checking Addresses
Because of the multitude of ways that addresses are entered, checking them is not foolproof. In order to insure that you get the largest number of matches it might be necessary to do several things:
1. Enter the Address to check in the simpilest fashion. Put in '121 Main Street' rather
than '121 Main Street, Flr. 6, Apt. 5'.
2. If you lower the checking score from 70 you will probably get more matches.
3. It is important that the correct Zip Code is entered since the search depends on it.
Adjustments to Your Enteries
Note: there is an 80 point bonus if the address you are checking is contained with the address record on the record being checked, e.g., caddress.
The system attempts fo compare addresses that have been entered the same way. To the extent possible, certain adjustments are made to both to the address being checked and to the addresses entered in the database. No permanent changes or made, rather the addresses are adjusted for checking. The following are the entries that are adjusted so they can be compared even if an abbreviation is used.:
1. Street
2. Lane
3. Avenue
4. Boulevard
5. P.O. Box
6. Route
7. Rural Route
8. Apartment
9. Place
10. Floor
11. Road
12. Court
13. Suite
14. Ordinal Indicator
(from 1 to 12, e.g. First Street changed to 1st Street for comparison)
